AN infographic from Chadwicks looks at the overall energy efficiency of LEDs, from manufacturing to lifespan to brightness.
Comparing CFLs, incandescent light bulbs and LEDs, the infographic looked at factors like lifetime, energy demand during use, energy used to manufacture, lifetime, embodied energy and lighting costs.
It found that while LEDs required 9.9Kwh to manufacture, compared to incandescent's 0.612Kwh, LEDs cost much less overall energy to produce 25,000 light hours.
And while LEDs cost the most per bulb, it provided the greatest life span per bulb, the least amount of electricity and expense during use, and the least number of bulb changes.
