Industrial thefts in Kalgoorlie attributed to thief crew

A spate of burglaries in Kalgoorlie over the Western Australian long weekend has given police reason to suspect a criminal crew has been operating in the area.

In one burglary, thieves forced their way into a secured warehouse and stole a Nissan Patrol, a Nissan Navara, a large dual-axle trailer, mechanical equipment and electrical items.

Detective Stuart Hartzenberg said the series of burglaries were not yet linked, but that the proximity of the crimes seemed to indicate that the crimes may have been organised by a crew of thieves.

“All the burglaries were of industrial sites,” Hartzenberg said.

“Forensics have obtained samples from the scenes, and we’re waiting for those results to come through.

“Hopefully some public support will help to shed additional light on the case.”

Anyone with information about the theft can call Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
