Incitec Pivot has signed a 23 month gas supply agreement for its Phosphate Hill facility.

The gas will power its Phosphate Hill fertiliser and explosives manufacturing plant in North West Queensland from 1 February 2015 onwards, it said in a company statement.

However "the new gas agreement will increase manufacturing costs by $50 million per year from the 2015 and 2016 calendar years," Incitec added.

Earlier this week the manufacturer announced it will stop storing explosive materials at its Port Adelaide site due to local safety concerns.
