Ford has unveiled the 2015 Falcon XR8, the last model of the iconic car that will ever be made in Australia.
News.com.au reports that Ford has manufactured Falcons for 56 years and the company has made cars in this country for 91 years. That will all end when Ford closes its Broadmeadows plant in 2016.
"We designed this car to be our best Falcon ever and expect it to live up that goal," Ford Australia president Bob Graziano told Carsguide.
"Falcon has always been a special part of the Ford line-up and this model is no different. This is not only our best-ever Falcon, but it also shows the new face of Ford."
Given that Ford’s planned exit date is October 2016, the 2015 Falcon XR8 will have a life span of less than two years.
Meanwhile, AP reports that Ford has posted a record profit in North America and made money in Europe for the first time in three years.
The company Ford reported its highest-ever pretax profit of $2.4bn in North America, while In Europe, the company made $14m.
