A FIFO worker operating on Barrow Island has passed away after committing suicide.

It is not yet known how the man died, only that he was found after the fact, in his room.

It is believed that the man may have worked for the CB&I and Kentz joint venture.

Barrow Island is the site of the massive Gorgon gas project.

Chevron Australia, one of the operators of the project, and the CFMEU, have been contacted for further comment.

Earlier this year another FIFO worker committed suicide at the Gateway Village in South Hedland.

More to come....
