APPLIANCES manufacturer Electrolux Home Products says its service technicians will use a new mobile payment solution to accept payment during service calls.
The Mintegrate solution from Mint Wireless will equip Electrolux service technicians with a secure and bank-grade compliant Chip and PIN card reading device, similar to those used in a retail environment.
The device will allow the technicians to accept card payments on their Android smartphones and automatically reconcile transactions with Electrolux’s backend systems.
According to Electrolux, the main motivation for the move to mobile payment is to provide more flexible payment options for customers.
The new solution will come online from June 2014, with each Electrolux technician equipped with an Android mobile device and a small card reader. At the end of a service call, service technicians can enter the cost of the service call on a mobile device, swipe a credit card and get customers to confirm the transaction using a PIN or on-screen signature.
After the PIN or signature has been verified, customers can choose to receive a receipt by SMS or email.
All transactions will be captured and accessible on a web-based admin portal allowing Electrolux’s administrative office employees the freedom to view transaction histories and report on all transactions.
