PERTH-based Eden Energy says that Cummins in the US will use the OptiBlend Dual Fuel System to retrofit drilling rigs.

The OptiBlend Dual Fuel System is developed and marketed by Hythane Company, a wholly owned US subsidiary of Eden Energy.

Cummins is a Fortune 500 corporation which provides power systems for the oil and gas industry. It will use the OptiBlend system as part of an integrated solution called the Cummins Drilling Master Skid for retrofitting dual fuelled power on drilling rigs.

Under the deal, the Hythane OptiBlend components will remain Hythane branded, and certain Cummins distributors will become certified Hythane service and warranty dealers, so rig owners can have a single point of contact with Cummins.

Cummins and Hythane Company worked together to integrate the dual fuel components with the Drilling Power Module and the oil field skid structure on which the engine is mounted. This included creating an integrated user interface panel for both the drilling power module and the dual fuel controls, as well as integration of the diesel oxidation catalyst and gas train components into the oil field skid structure.
