Over 100 firefighters were onsite at a factory fire in Dandenong South last night, with the Country Fire Authority warning residents in neighbouring suburbs that smoke continued to be an issue this morning.
Fairfax reports that Dandenong, Dandenong South, Hallam and Hampton Park residents were told to stay indoors, with windows and doors closed, due to a fire that started at roughly 6 pm.
According to the Herald Sun, what was believed to be a carpet factory was destroyed by the blaze, and the CFA warned residents nearby that smoke would remain present throughout the morning.
"When residents wake up they need to be aware,” the warning read.
"They should keep their doors and windows shut.''
