AUSTRALIA-based AtCor Medical says its joint collaboration with SunTech Medical has resulted in the launch of a new 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitor system.
AtCor Medical develops and markets products for the early detection of cardiovascular risk and management of cardiovascular disease. Its technology allows researchers and clinicians to measure central aortic blood pressure and arterial stiffness non-invasively, with a key piece of technology being the SphygmoCor.
The new medical device, dubbed “Oscar 2 with SphygmoCor inside”, was jointly developed with SunTech Medical, a leader in non-invasive blood pressure products and technologies. The jointly product combines SunTech’s industry ABPM system with AtCor’s SphygmoCor technology to create a comfortable patient-focused device with unequalled data reliability.
ABPM devices are designed to be worn by patients over a 24-hour period, and enable periodic measurements to be captured. They assist physicians in understanding patients' ‘out of office’ blood pressure and its variability throughout periods of activity and rest.
The new product benefits from SunTech’s patented Orbit cuff and best-in-industry motion tolerance, as well as AtCor’s central blood pressure technology. It will work with AtCor's existing systems.
The new device will be jointly marketed by SunTech and AtCor, with AtCor taking the lead role in the pharmaceutical clinical trials market and SunTech in the clinical practice and research market.
It is expected that Oscar 2 with SphygmoCor inside will enter regulatory approval phase shortly and will be available for sale later in 2014.
