Mark McKay, a Canadian academic and corporate adviser, has commented on what he believes are six signs that China has lost its industrial dominance.

McKay, who is the Assistant Dean at the School of Business at Canada’s Trinity Western University and has consulted companies including Boeing on lean manufacturing, has said that the process has taken place over several years.

According to McKay, writing for Forbes, the Chinese are “becoming quietly desperate” and are unsure about how to reclaim their former advantages.

He identifies a half-dozen signs to support his case: denial, frustration with employees, frustration with bankers, moving factories to cheaper labour pools, focussing on the domestic market, and taking the profits and getting out.
