CECIMO, the European Association of the Machine Tool Industries, together with their organising partners of next year’s EMTE-EASTPO Machine Tool Exhibition announce the CEO Summit, a conference targeted at top machine tool buyers from China and the rest of Asia.
To be held in Shanghai on 15 July 2014, the CEO Summit features the theme, ‘Profitable Growth Through State-of-the-Art Manufacturing’.
Mr Filip Geerts, director general of CECIMO explains that the CEO Summit will bring together some 300 leading machine tool makers and their buyers, and will not only address issues that are important to them but also spur greater collaboration and networking between the two groups.
The EMTE-EASTPO exhibition will feature an exciting display of the latest technology by European and several international machine tool makers. The one-day conference will complement the exhibition showcase by enhancing knowledge sharing and dialogue with Asian machine tool users, especially those from China.
Mr Jan Borgonjon, President of InterChina Consulting, the knowledge partner of the Summit adds that discussions will centre on global trends, best practices and various topical issues that impact the manufacturing industry in China. Topics will include global manufacturing trends, the challenges brought about by the application of state-of-the art manufacturing practices to China, how to deal with the human resource challenge, the application of innovation and high-tech solutions for successful manufacturing in China, and how to achieve profitable operations by utilising the latest production technology.
The Summit will focus on four main areas, namely state-of-the-art manufacturing - global trends and China issues; the voice of customers - perspectives from producers and suppliers; operational excellence - human resources, training, financing, and services; and innovative solutions - use of latest technologies for effective production operations.
One of the knowledge-sharing platforms at EMTE-EASTPO 2014, the CEO Summit will feature an international panel of speakers. A number of technical seminars and workshops will also be organised by show owners, CECIMO and Shanghai EASTPO Culture Development Co., Ltd. The joint exhibition will be held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) from 14 to 17 July 2014.
According to the show owners, interest from international machine tool makers has been strong. CECIMO and its 15 national member associations have pledged their full support for the event.
Mr Martin Kapp, CECIMO president and chairman of VDW, the German machine tool builders’ association, affirmed this support at a press conference held during EMO 2013 in Hannover. Leading European manufacturers that have confirmed their interest include Bystronic, Starrag, Agie Charmilles, Korber Schleifring, Carl Zeiss and Fastems.
The joint exhibition will feature the high quality standards of major exhibitions in Europe, such as strict exhibitor admission rules, protection of intellectual property rights of manufacturers, and live demonstrations of exhibits.
Exhibits will also be presented according to product sectors, including machine tools, precision tools, parts, components, accessories, manufacturing and process automation, metrology and quality assurance, and services.
