A leading Australian manufacturer of bird seed products has installed SolarMax grid-connected solar inverters at their rooftop solar PV system in Queanbeyan, New South Wales.
Supplied through SolarMax’s installation partner, Ygrene Energy, the order included four 15kW 15MT2 and one 10kW 10MT2 grid connected inverters for a 70kW rooftop solar PV system comprising of 230 x 305kW Yingli Solar solar photovoltaic panels.
Designed to generate over 105MWh of solar power annually, the solar PV system is expected to save Bird Munchies up to $25,000 a year in energy bills as well as reduce its reliance on grid electricity, lower their carbon footprint by 104 tonnes annually, and deliver an internal rate of return (IRR) of 27 percent per annum.
According to Bird Munchies Director Alan Irvine, as an Australian manufacturer, they are constantly faced with pressures to produce more competitively priced products. The solar installation will now help them reduce their operating overheads and allow these savings to be passed on to the customers. The opportunity to reduce their environmental footprint is also a major advantage.
Tim Davaris, Managing Director, Ygrene Energy said that Bird Munchies was one of the many manufacturing facilities in Queanbeyan to install a solar photovoltaic system after seeing the cost advantages offered by solar power.
Bird Munchies will rely on SolarMax’s remote monitoring platform and utilise MaxWeb to access the SolarMax WebPortal over the internet. This monitoring solution provides a real-time display of performance data such as input and output voltages, input and output currents, frequency, device temperature and yield, allowing the company to keep an eye on the system’s overall performance.
Gavin Merchant, Key Account Manager for SolarMax Australia adds that Ygrene Energy has been instrumental in promoting the quality offered by SolarMax’s Swiss-made inverters.
Key benefits of SolarMax’s MT series inverters include simple installation, high reliability and long-term durability; maximum efficiency of up to 98 percent; suitable for both indoor and outdoor installations; meeting safety requirements as per AS/NZS 5033:2012 standards (IEC 62109-1/-2) as well as AS 4777.2 and AS 4777.3 standards; and accredited by the Clean Energy Council (CEC).
All SolarMax string inverters come with a five-year standard warranty, extendable up to 25 years.
