30 per cent of Chinese investment in Africa in manufacturing

Editorial

Chinese investment in Africa is diversified, though is heavily skewed towards manufacturing, according to a recent report.

China Daily, in a feature on Chinese companies looking for opportunities in the African market, cites a report for the China Council for the Promotion of Free Trade, the Survey Concerning Outbound Investment By Chinese Business in 2013.

The research showed that the country's investment in sub-Saharan Africa was diversified, but 30 per cent of the total was in manufacturing - twice that of mining - with factories being near raw materials being a huge plus for investors.
