Former mine turned into underground museum

Following hot on the heels of a former mine turned into an underground trampoline disco in Wales, a former Romanian mine has been turned into a massive underground theme park and history museum.

The former Salina Turda salt mines, located in Romanian’s Transylvania region have been transformed from a deep salt mine into a mining history museum that runs over three levels and technically three different mines – the Terezia, Rudolf, and Gizela mines, according to Design Boom.

The ground floor takes the theme park route, featuring a sports area, ferris wheel, bowling alley, and mini gold course.

Boats can also be hired to tour the site’s underground lake.

Earlier this year an underground trampoline disco centre was unveiled in Wales, with trampolines suspended over the massive underground shaft.
