A $13 million expansion that doubles the capacity of Kellogg’s Healthy Snack Food People manufacturing facility at Charmhaven on the Central Coast has been officially opened.
The expansion of the facility - from 4,000 to 8,000 square metres – is aimed at enhancing Kellogg’s competitiveness in the growing snack food market.
The Charmhaven facility produces Dawn Day muesli bars, K-Time bars, LCMs, Sunibrite and Be Natural bars, with these products being sold throughout Australia and exported to New Zealand, the UK, Israel, plus parts of South East Asia, the Pacific Rim and the Middle East.
This is the second major expansion of Kellogg’s Charmhaven facility in the past two years. In 2001 Kellogg’s embarked on a $4 million expansion that created 40 jobs.
DSRD helped Kellogg’s consolidate its operations in 2001 and this year, working extensively with Wyong Shire Council and other State Government agencies to ensure the success of both projects.
Project assistance for the latest expansion was provided through the NSW Government’s Industries Assistance Fund.
More than 20 companies, including Woolworths, Sanitarium, Sara Lee, Masterfoods, Chickadee, have established operations in the region to take advantage of lower costs, the available workforce and proximity to major transport routes.
